Cake Pops

I got this new book from my sister for Christmas and couldn't wait to try it out!  It is the Cake Pops book by the baker and blogger Bakerella.  You can see her blog at www.bakerella.com

Let's see what kind of a mess I can get into with all this good stuff!

I made the "Simple Santa Hats" and this is what they are supposed to look like...

Mine don't quite look the same!  The recipe is supposed to come out with 48 cake pops, however I made them a bit larger (by accident) so I only got about 26!  Can't wait to make more!  Next time I will buy the lollipop sticks and maybe they will turn out even better! :-)

15 December 2010

I'm said to report a great loss today...my sewing machine died.  After getting 3 opinions, it was named "un-reparable."  Time of death: 11:08am 15 December 2010.  Maybe I should take up knitting so I don't have to worry about something electronic crashing on me again!

On a happy note I was on The Quilt Shoppes blog roll today!  You can check it out at www.the-quilt-shoppe.blogspot.com.  Thankfully I already completed my Christmas gift sewing!
What's the best brand of sewing machine to buy these days.  And is buying an older machine better than buying a new one?

Bad day

So, I get back from taking my laptop in to get repaired and have sometime to start quilting and I get about 10 inches into the quilt and my machine stops working!  Bah Humbug!  Guess I have to find a repair place for a sewing machine too now.

Butterfly Thread Catcher

My very own thread catcher.  I'm pretty sure there are just as many beads jammed into the carpet that are actually in the pin cushion!
It turned out pretty well I think, I might just make another!

Just finished this quilt last week

The back is pieced with extra fabric from the top

Love my Frolic

I love my neighborhood quilt shop because they have lots of sales!  When they are almost out of one line of fabric, it goes on sale to make room for the new fabrics.  Gotta love those sales!

The fabric is Frolic by Sandy Garvais for Moda.
The pattern is Time Out Quilts by Atkinson Designs.
It's a little wrinkly, but you get the idea.  Just need to figure out what I want to use for the backing and then get it finished!

Happy belated National Cheesecake Day!

I just found out that National Cheesecake Day was last week!
How I missed this, I am not sure.  So, today I celebrated with my special homemade cheesecake!

Doesn't it look delicious???  And let me tell you it tasted amazing!

Black and white with a little red

It's amazing how pieces of fabric can go from this -

to this -

in just a few hours, a few pulls of the seam ripper, and some good music.  Is it possible to LOVE each new quilt I make MORE than the last one?!?!

17 July 2010

So, since I decided to make a combined blog of two of my favorite hobbies, of course I had to make my first
quilt from fabric with desserts on it!

For someone who can't sew a pair of pajama pants using a pattern, I think it turned out pretty well for my first one!  Maybe because I made up my own pattern!
I LOVE this quilt!  Maybe because it's my first one or maybe because it has cakes on it, or possibly a little bit of both.
